About Las Vegas, Nevada

The city of Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada and the county seat of Clark County. The city has over 623,000 residents. The Las Vegas Valley's principal cities are Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas. The metro area itself is comprised entirely of Clark County.

Las Vegas has more hotel rooms than any other city in the world. So it is not surprising that tourism is what principally drives the Las Vegas economy. People don't just travel to Vegas to gamble. The city has become a destination for conventions, shopping, and fine dining.

The Downtown Arts District is home to numerous galleries, film festivals, and events. There are also many botanical gardens, conservatories, and arboretums. What typical visitors may not realize is that Las Vegas has over 20 museums.

Facts about Las Vegas

  • The Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts is a Grammy award-winning magnet school located in Downtown Las Vegas.
  • Las Vegas has several sister cities, as designated by Sister Cities International: Ansan, South Korea; Jeju City, South Korea; Huludao, Liaoning, China; Phuket, Thailand; Angeles City, Philippines; and Pamukkale, Turkey.
  • The first reported non-Native American visitor to the Las Vegas Valley was the Mexican scout Rafael Rivera in 1829.

SAMHSA Report for Nevada

Reports published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration estimate that there are 199,000 people over the age of 12 who are dependent or abuse illicit drugs or alcohol in Nevada. Though Las Vegas is nowhere near epidemic levels, drug testing and drug-free workplace programs help to directly address substance abuse issues in a community.

What You Need to Bring to a Drug Test in Las Vegas

US Drug Test Centers has multiple locations in and near Las Vegas. Our testing locations require a drug test order form/donor pass and your photo ID. We can provide you with a drug test order form/donor pass within minutes of calling our office at 866-566-0261 or by placing your order online. US Drug Test Centers do not accept payment on site. Most of our testing locations accept walk-ins or same-day appointments to minimize wait times.

Instant Urine Drug Testing in Las Vegas

One way in which US Drug Test Centers helps employers maintain a drug-free workplace is by performing point of collection testing, or POCT, on site. With this testing, the donor provides a urine specimen and a screening test is performed immediately. If the test is negative then the testing is complete.

If the results of the instant screening test read positive, this is considered an incomplete test and the urine specimen must be sent to a laboratory for confirmation testing. It will then be reviewed by a Medical Review Officer. The confirmation test is called a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). This testing is performed on all non-negative screens with an extremely precise piece of equipment, which measures the molecular size, charge, and weight of the atoms in the drug metabolites. Due to the precision of the machine, it can tell the difference between poppy seeds and opiates, ibuprofen, and THC metabolites, second-hand smoke, and actual inhalation, nasal sprays, and amphetamines. The GC/MS confirmation method rules out any false positives. A drug-testing program without GC/MS confirmation leaves an employer open to a significant amount of liability.

Creating Your Drug-free Workplace Policy

An effective workplace policy is not generic; it needs to reflect the specific group(s) and requirements of the organization. A written workplace policy needs to be developed in consultation with all levels of the company. US Drug Test Centers believes that it is very important to create a policy that works best for your company. We understand that each company has specific employee rules and regulations while still complying with state specific laws.

By completing our Drug-Free Workplace Policy Form you will receive a policy compliance manual that includes step by step instructions and all required documents. These resources include a policy statement on controlled substance use and alcohol misuse in the workplace, educational materials, employee assistance programs, information regarding rehabilitation and treatment programs, access to a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) for DOT violations, copies of DOT regulations (if your company falls under DOT guidelines), random testing instructions, and instructions for record-keeping.

Las Vegas' Most Accurate Drug or Alcohol Testing

How do I know if the test is accurate? All of US Drug Test Centers' specimens go to a SAMHSA certified laboratory for testing. SAMHSA has an active advisory board that keeps its employees and administrators abreast of current and changing laws when it comes to drug testing. There are Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Employee Drug Testing Programs that must carry consistencies throughout every agency and company that SAMHSA laboratories supplies. The advisory board has professionals that are uniquely qualified in their respective fields to review scientific evidence in the area of drug and alcohol treatment and testing practices.
