Oregon Drug Testing

The pacific North West is home to breathtaking scenery, crystal clear lakes and snow-topped mountains. From the Crater Lake to Multnomah Falls, there is no lack of places to see and explore. With a population of over 4 million residents, Oregon is the 9th most populated state in the nation. Oregon also ranks 6th in the country for illicit drug use in 2014 and has a high number of alcohol related deaths. Oregon has also been popularized in music and media as a hub or heroin use by artists such as Elliot Smith, leaving a documented trail of its history in the state. With a large majority of heroin use happening in rural areas with fewer resources to combat the problem, US Drug Test Centers recognize the importance of being available for the citizens of Oregon who have drug test needs.

Our testing locations do not accept payment and require a drug test order form at the time of testing. Please click the "Order a Test" button to order your test. Once your order has been processed, your drug test order form will be emailed to you. Testing options may vary on a site by site basis. Additional fees may apply depending on your location.

Oregon Drug Testing FAQs

Do employers in Oregon need to comply with mandatory state-specific rules when drug & alcohol testing?
Yes. Oregon has specific rules for employers that wish to conduct employee drug testing.
Is a Drug-Free Workplace policy required in Oregon?
No. Policies are not explicitly required but may be the difference between winning or losing a challenge to an unemployment claim. Employers are strongly encouraged to have a written policy in place (policy is specifically required to comply with the states’ voluntary law).
What are some compliance requirements in Oregon?
Those who are collecting samples must be registered with the state and pay a fee. Breath testing can only be used with the consent of the employee or when the employer has reasonable grounds to believe the employee is under the influence.
Are employers in Oregon able to use drug screening for any other claim defenses or state-specific financial benefits?
Yes. Employers may be able to leverage an ‘Intoxication’ defense to a Workers’ Compensation Claim, based on a positive drug test result. A positive drug test may also make an employee ineligible for unemployment compensation. Employers wishing to leverage either of these benefits must voluntarily comply with very detailed program rules.
Does Oregon authorize marijuana (THC) or cannabidiol (CBD) use?
Yes. Oregon authorizes the adult personal use and the medical use of marijuana for very limited medical conditions. The state medical marijuana law specifies that employers need not to accommodate the use of marijuana in the workplace. Employers are strongly encouraged to indicate in policy that marijuana use is prohibited.
Can I be fired or lose a job offer in Oregon if I fail a drug test?
In Oregon, if you test positive on a drug test it can be grounds for termination or a rescinded job offer.
What are the medical and recreational marijuana-related rules in Oregon?
In Oregon, medical and recreational marijuana use is considered legal and cannot be used against you if you test positive, unless you are in a safety sensitive position.

The MRO reviews the lab results to makes sure the correct test panel was performed and that the correct procedures were followed by the collector. When a drug test is reported positive by the lab, the MRO also contacts the employee to determine if there is a legitimate medical explanation for the positive lab result. Some prescription medications or medical treatments can cause a positive test result. In these cases, the MRO will obtain verification of a valid prescription or recent medical treatment. The test result is then reported to the employer as negative because there is a legitimate, verified medical reason for the positive lab test result. However, if the employee is unable to provide a valid medical explanation for a positive lab test result, the MRO reports the test result as positive to the employer.
