Alcohol and drug testing is now easier than ever for Michigan employees, employers, and other individuals. Keep scrolling to learn more about Michigan drug testing and other services offered by US Drug Test Centers — including pre-employment testing, random testing, and more.

Partnering with DOT and Non-DOT Companies in Michigan

Drug testing is vital for Michigan employers, especially with the rise of recreational marijuana use and our country's problem with opioid addiction. The use of controlled substances in the workplace can cause serious repercussions, including a decrease in productivity and morale, an increase in on-the-job accidents and crime, and increased employee turnover.

Overall, drug abuse in the workplace costs employers billions of dollars each and every year.

US Drug Test Centers helps employers maintain a drug-free workplace in multiple ways:

  • Partner with us to manage all of your alcohol and drug testing. This includes pre-employment drug testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion drug testing, post-accident drug screening, and return-to-duty testing.

  • We'll train your staff to help you manage your entire drug-free workplace program. This includes teaching them how to determine reasonable suspicion.

  • US Drug Test Centers can conduct your background checks. Order and review them electronically.

  • We'll carefully craft your drug-free workplace program. This protects you, your employees, and your business entity.

Are you a company or owner-operator working for the Department of Transportation (DOT)? We offer all of the same services and will help you stay compliant so that you can always pass a DOT audit in Michigan.

Michigan Drug Testing FAQs

Is a Drug-Free Workplace policy required in Michigan?
No, however, employers are strongly encouraged to have a written policy in place (Policy is specifically required to comply with the Michigan’s voluntary law).
Are employers in Michigan able to use drug screening for any other claim defenses or state-specific financial benefits?
Yes. Employers may be able to leverage an ‘Intoxication’ defense to a Workers’ Compensation Claim, based on a positive drug test result and misconduct. A positive drug test may also make an employee ineligible for unemployment compensation if terminated for misconduct. Employers wishing to leverage either of these benefits must voluntarily comply with very detailed program rules.

Yes. Michigan has authorized both the personal adult use and the medical use of marijuana. Employees that are authorized medical marijuana patients may still be eligible for unemployment benefits if they are terminated due to a positive drug test.
Can I be fired or lose a job offer in Michigan if I fail a drug test?
In Michigan, if you test positive on a drug test it cannot be grounds for termination or a rescinded job offer.
What are the medical and recreational marijuana-related rules in Michigan?
In Michigan, medical and recreational marijuana use is considered legal and cannot be used against you if you test positive, unless you are in a safety sensitive position.

Why US Drug Test Centers?

What makes us different from other drug testing providers?

Unparalleled Accuracy

Delivering accurate test results is of utmost importance. We only work with SAMHSA-certified laboratories, which are held to strict standards when it comes to their processes and equipment.

Furthermore, all test results are validated by a medical review officer (MRO), who is a licensed physician. Let's say, as an example, an employee has tested positive but believes it was triggered by their prescription medication. The MRO will be able to confirm this.

Endless Options

We offer the most expansive selection of testing. We can screen via hair, urine, and breath. We provide marijuana drug testing, drug tests for cocaine, PCP, steroids, amphetamines, opioids, Rohypnol, suboxone, ecstasy, and many other substances.

You can order a test individual or combine them into a panel. If you don't see the panel you're looking for, contact us and we'll be happy to assist you.

Ease and Convenience

With over 20,000 testing locations across the United States, we're never more than a short drive away. Some of our locations even offer same-day testing. Find a testing center near you!
